Gilbert Young, CDT

Gilbert Young is a master ceramist with a passion for creating natural, beautiful and convincing smiles.  His work is often known to captivate the most discriminating eyes for its beauty and realism.  Formally trained as a classical musician, he later went on to study dental technology.  As he knew from his musical training, to be the best at anything, one must study with the best.  He went on to study with Asami Tanaka at his Dental Technology Institute in Chicago shortly after completing his initial training.  He also pursued advanced studies with the internationally renowned masters Makoto Yamamoto from Japan and Klaus Muterthies from Germany as well as other European masters.  From this bi-cultural training, he has developed a unique style of dental ceramics that has enhanced the smiles and lives of literally thousands of patients.

He continues to attend interdisciplinary courses in dentistry to maintain an edge on delivering the best dental restorations.  His ever evolving approach to dental reconstruction places a strong emphasis not only on the esthetics, but on the functional aspect of his restorations as an integral part for the success and longevity of the dental work and well-being of the patient.

A first prize team winner of Dentsply’s Dental Laboratory Award for Excellence in Dental Ceramics in 1990, he paired with several of the leading dentists in the United States to deliver outstanding dental ceramic reconstructions.  Gilbert obtained accredited member status with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry in 1997 after a unanimous one time decision.  Due to the high demands for his skills at the bench, he maintains a rather conservative lecture schedule which has taken him across the United States, Canada, and Latin America.  He has also presented to the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and several dental societies.

When he is not at the bench working on a single central or a full mouth reconstruction, he is likely to be practicing the clarinet for the next concert with the symphony or enjoying time with his family and friends.
